The Joy of Sewing & Embroidery Service
In the event, you are needing both In-take (or Let-Out) AND a Hem. I will have you come back for a fitting after altering the top before moving onto the hemline. Why? It is always best to work a dress from top to bottom so as not to risk a shorter than desired hemline. Thus, part of the reason why alteration timeline is 2-4 weeks.
This revolves around scheduling but I wanted to share separately. In years, past, I typically book 2 - 4 weeks ahead beginning to middle of March. I have found out that most go Prom shopping the week before or week of Spring break. That is typically the time in which appointments book more quickly. At that point last year, I started booking 3 – 5 weeks ahead and by May I was 6 weeks ahead. My recommendation is that you shop early and definitely prior to Spring Break, since Easter this year is a little later falling on April 16th. Schedule your appointment as soon as you have bought your dress. Yes, as you are walking out of store get on your smartphone and book! If you have purchased it online, then keep an eye on the delivery date and my schedule so that you can schedule your appointment accordingly. Saturday and evening appointments tend to be the first ones to get booked so if these days/times work best for you, please remember to book in advance or you will end up scheduling during the daytime. PLEASE SEE PROM DATES AND GUIDE BELOW!
Once my schedule is booked and you are needing an appointment you have the following options:
1. Book first available and check the boxes for LAST MINUTE WAITING LIST (LMWL). Last minute waiting list will be handled on a first book, first serve basis in the order in which the appointment/LMWL boxes were checked. Remember you will remain on this list until you have accepted a last-minute cancellation spot or your current appointment comes up.
2. You can keep checking my scheduler as much as you want to see if someone reschedules/cancels their appointment thus opening a slot. Remember this can happen day or night and its first book, first serve.
3. Contact me via email, FB or Phone call to see if I am currently able to take on an emergency. This will depend on current workload of which is very slim with PROM being the same time as the start of WEDDING SEASON and emergency fees will apply.
Remember you can move up your appointment on your own if greater than 24 hours. Scheduling an appointment allows you to have added advantage of the LMWL feature in addition to keeping an eye on the scheduler.
I know these posts have been focused mostly around PROM but a lot of this information can be used for Wedding preparation and other formal events. Wedding dress alterations need to allow 8-12 weeks of planning.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. FB messenger is the quickest way to get a response from me as text, phone message and email can take up to 24 hours.
Please be sure that you have “LIKED” are “FOLLOWING” my Facebook page and “SHARE” this information with everyone you know so that you may all breathe a little easier.
Many thanks to everyone and I hope this has helped give what you need to navigate the Prom Season (or even Wedding). I look forward to working with you!
HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE THANKSGIVING!
